Christie M. Foppiano is a certified Superior Court Mediator, arbitrator, trained IACT Program collaborative law attorney and the owner of Foppiano Mediations.  She is married, has two daughters and is a North Carolina native.  Christie graduated from the NC School of Science and Mathematics and then obtained her BA in French from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was Phi Beta Kappa.  She earned her JD at the University of Tennessee and served on the Tennessee Law Review.

From 1995 to 2006, Christie was in private practice where she handled a wide variety of civil cases.  For the next five years, she served as General Counsel and HUD Director of a nonprofit organization.  In 2011, after extensive civil litigation experience, Christie refocused her career exclusively on alternative dispute resolution.

Christie is dedicated to the collaborative and peaceful resolution of disputes, particularly in the area of family law.  As a wife and mother, she understands the importance of cooperative parenting and maintaining positive relationships.

Along with several other Separating Together attorneys, Christie also helps unrepresented individuals prepare court documents as part of Carolina Dispute Settlement Services’ “File-It-Yourself” clinic.  She is a founding member of the IACT Program’s practice group, working to bring collaborative law to the medical malpractice arena.

Christie is a member of the Tenth Judicial District and the Wake County Bar Association’s Fee Dispute Resolution Committee as well as the NC Bar Association’s Women in the Profession Committee.  She also belongs to the NC Association of Women Attorneys and Wake Women Attorneys.
